Solidarity with Ukraine
We remain saddened and shocked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine for over two months now. We hope for an easing of the situation and an end to the suffering that this war brings. Our thoughts in these difficult times are with the people of Ukraine.
We may not be able to change the political situation. Nevertheless, we do not have to remain completely helpless! sofatutor has gathered online learning materials for Ukrainian children, which are free-to-use and in the Ukrainian language: https://magazin.sofatutor.com/schueler/free-online-learning-ukrainian-children/ (Please share this link with families who might find it helpful). You can also find these information on social media
We also want to support our employees who volunteer in this situation, therefore everyone who wants to engage can use their flexible working time for that. As a little support, team members who host Ukrainians at their homes receive grocery vouchers.
As a joint team we can also support the existing aid infrastructure by bundling and coordinating individual resources. Some team members privately organized get-togethers in small volunteer groups and started a little donation and sandwich preparation campaign to support the helpers at Berlin train stations.
There are many, many different ways to volunteer in Berlin. Therefore I tried to to summarize central information about help for refugees and volunteers, oriented to the website of the Berlin Senate: berlin.de
Accommodation
At the moment the most important thing for people arriving is accommodation. Who is able and willing to offer a room or a bed will find closer information here: unterkunft-ukraine.de
Active Engagement
If you want to help independently, you can register on the platform volunteer-planner.org or get more information from the Berlin City Commission via berliner-stadtmission.de
At the moment translators, psychological and legal supporters are urgently needed. If you’re specialized in one of these fields and want to offer your help, please find further information on the platforms listed above.
Donations in kind
In recent weeks, donations in kind could no longer be accepted at various drop-off points. However, some goods are needed on a regular basis. Keep up-to-date about what is needed, e.g. via spendenbruecke-ukraine.de
At sofatutor, we are convinced that even small actions make a change, and together we can fight against the feeling of helplessness. Let us together keep hope for peace in the Ukraine and try to give strength to all people affected by this war.
